Project
- Soil and building rubble landfill for landfill class DK I, in which large quantities of plasterboard are also dumped
- The Lösenbach waste disposal facility is located in the grey wacke quarry on the Lösenbacher Landstraße / Zum Brauberg in Lüdenscheid
- While mining work is continuing in the southern part of the quarry, the northern part is already being used for dumping soil and building rubble
- A variety of stability analyses for the landfill site, which has a 1:1.5 slope in the dumping phase, is required for the landfill area
- The total dumping capacity available in the quarry is approx. V = 6 million m³

- The Ruhrverband, Essen, used a site of approx. 60.000 m² on the Kleff road in Witten as a sludge drying site for the Witten sewage treatment works, situated alongside the Ruhr. The 6 basins were investigated for planned reuse for residential housing between 2001 and 2005, with the result that in one infilled basin (Basin 6) very high levels of organic pollutants (EOX, BTEX, PAH) were found, together with back-fill at the bottom of the emptied Basins 1 to 5, in some places with significantly increased levels of PAH and heavy metals. Due to the total volume of over 44,000 m³ of chemically contaminated back-fill materials, the site is to be made ready for building by local restorage and securing or through removal of materials with lower pollution levels. Renovation of the site includes securing (encapsulating) the more heavily contaminated back-filling materials in Basins 5 and 6. A surface seal was created over the two basins using Trisoplast, over an area of approx. 8,000 m². The sustainability of the renovation is checked using groundwater monitoring.
