  • Kommunale Betriebe Nordhorn AöR, a municipal utilities organisation, operates a series of wells on the sewage sludge polder facility in Nordhorn-Frenswegen
  • The series comprises a total of 39 sink pipes arranged in a line at an interval of at least 10 m and parallel to the Frensdorfer Bruchgraben watercourse
  • The sink pipes have been designed as 10 m to 12 m deep gravity wells
  • The series of wells serves to catch the groundwater of the upper unconfined groundwater level that is contaminated by the seepage from the sewage sludge polder
  • According to the water permit issued by the Bentheim lower water authorities, the wells must be inspected every six months
