Dr. Spang GmbH

    Technical equipment
Dr. Spang Ingenieurgesellschaft für Bauwesen, Geologie und Umwelttechnik mbH has its own high-performance, efficient technical equipment, enabling us to handle our projects quickly and to a high technical standard. Through long-term investment planning and continuous replacement and modernisation of equipment and materials, Dr. Spang GmbH is always state-of-the-art.

    Hardware

  • 90 modern PCs with laser and inkjet printers (single-colour black and four-colour), 1000 Mbit network
  • 8 modern CAD workstations with DIN A 0 colour inkjet printers
  • 7 DIN A 3 colour copiers and scanners
  • Various peripheral devices

Contact between the main office and the branches and with clients is managed over high-performance SDSL lines. The branches are linked with our head office via VPNs.

Software

The latest software (MS Office) is used for word-processing and calculating tables when working on our projects. In addition to this, we use specialist programs from leading manufacturers for foundation engineering and design software. The Appendix contains an overview of the available software.

In relation to groundwater modelling, we make use of the software packages Visual Modflow and Spring 3.1, Delta H for large-scale depth-determined aquifer models and for three-dimensional flow models. The Finite Differences Model Modflow has now become largely established internationally as a standard program. The Finite Elements Model is suitable for special questions in relation to modelling materials transport, thermal modelling in groundwater and for 3D problems with a free surface and modelling unsaturated soil zones.

With regard to statics, we are equipped with the InfoCAD program system, providing calculation programs for planar and spatial girder arrangement and plane load-bearing structures in reinforced concrete under the new DIN 1045-1. It can also calculate supporting frameworks in steel and wood. In relation to foundation engineering, the latest GGU programs enable calculations to be carried out for supporting constructions and stability analyses of slopes, applying either the old or the new relevant standards (DIN 1054:2003-01/EC7:2013), as preferred.

The FE program for calculating tunnels enables 2D and 3D calculations of tunnel advances in any preferred cross-section or using different procedures (shield driving or shotcrete construction), applying various proven soil models and with account being taken as necessary of separating areas. Constant groundwater flows can similarly be taken into account.

Rockfall simulations were carried out using the ROCKFALL 2D simulation program developed in-house. The basis of the program are the laws of motion and impact theory. It is able to calculate and evaluate the paths of individual blocks (stones) or of up to 10,000 stones together. For each point in the profile (particularly in places where protective trap constructions are provided), it can determine the energies occurring and the upthrow. The program, which is used worldwide, also provides the option to vary the input data for the path calculation and the corresponding statistical analysis.
